Province: MendozaRecuerdo Aliado Malbec 2012
Subregion: Uco Valley
Grapes: 100% Malbec
Aging: 22 months in French oak (80% new)
Rich stewed prunes in the nose belie a much more tart and fruit-forward wine on the palate. It’s still active and aggressive for a wine that spent 22 months in oak, the good news being that the occasionally overpowering flavor of oak is hardly noticeable. With tannins still rampant, it needs time to settle down and let that richness soak into the flavor. In the meantime, bring on the tart tomato-based pastas and strong-tasting game meats!
