With a bit of airing, a tart red currant bouquet wafts up, and then the burst of sweeter flavors are a pleasant surprise: wild strawberries tinged with allspice and a tiny lemony tang. Not the most refined wine by any means, but it’s an apt choice for a lighter style that’ll give any budget Burgundy or Sonoma County pinot a run for its money.
