Province: MendozaTrivento Amado Sur 2009

Grapes: 73% Malbec, 15% Bonarda, 12% Syrah

Aging: 8 months in oak and 5 months in the bottle

There’s just one word to describe this unusual blend: velvety. Somehow malbec has tamed its rougher counterparts, with bonarda and syrah learning to behave as the wine delivers a mix of red berries with hints of citrus and licorice that glides effortlessly over the tongue. The shades of violet in the somewhat vegetal bouquet are a nice bonus.
