Province: MendozaTrivento Eolo Malbec 2012
Subregion: Lujan de Cuyo
Grapes: 100% Malbec
Aging: 18 months in French oak and 12 months in the bottle
Only a faint, slightly musky aroma emerges from the glass upon swirling, but don’t let that fool you. This is a powerhouse of concentrated flavor that keeps going long after it leaves the palate. The tastes run the gamut from bright red cherries and ripe blueberries to sage and white pepper. Yet this is no bulky, syrupy malbec – it’s taught, sinewy, and still has room to grow. Drink now or wait several years to see what other flavors develop.
